    • Anti-Money Laundering
      The statement issued by the Basel Committee in 1998 and subsequent amendments, stressed on the principle of anti-money laundering and the need to reduce banks and financial institutions risk. These guidelines are a set of coherent recommendations to guide banks, to prevent involving in unwanted participation in suspicious financial transactions.
       
      Having understood the harmful effects of money laundering on the country's economy and to improve the transparency of bank activities associated with their clients, Sina bank has taken anti-money laundering action into account as one of the major priorities of its activity.
       
      Sina bank Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Department utilizes expert staff and intelligent software, to comply with anti-money laundering laws and regulations issued by regulatory authorities such as the Central Bank of Iran and the Financial Intelligence Unit of Iran, with banking processes and implication of these regulations.
       
      The main activities performed by Sina bank AML Department are as follows:
       
      1. Localization of guidelines issued by regulatory authorities, formulate bylaws, monitoring the implementation of laws and regulations associated with anti-money laundering and continuous cooperation with banking supervisory authorities, in order to improve controlling of branch operations
       
      2.  Knowing bank customers in two levels:Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD) through applying following systems:
       
      ·  NOCR (National Organization for Civil Registration) system, in order to identify and obtain a national identification number of Iranian individuals
      ·  Legal entities national ID system, to identify and obtain a national ID numbers of Iranian entities.
      · System for Authenticating foreign legal persons and legal entities.
      · System for authentication of official documents, to obtain valid documents, power of attorney and other documents issued by the notary public offices.
      ·  Address inquiry system, to adjust customers' information with declared addresses.
       
      3. Launching of AML intelligence software and implementation of criteria associated with process modification to re-establish all the transactions systematically; and forming a continuous chain of transactions set related to an operation which enables us to trace the fund transfers and identification of payment system
       
      4. Extracting, analyzing and sending the suspicious transaction reports (STR) to I.R.I.FIU (Financial Intelligence Unit of Iran)
       
      5.  Transmission of (CTR) reports daily to I.R.IFIU (Financial Intelligence Unit of Iran)
       
      6.  Responding to Financial Intelligence Unit of Iran and AML department of central bank of Iran inquiries
       
      7.  Updating, supervision, monitoring and controlling the suspicious persons whose names are reported monthly by IRIFIU
       
      8. Periodic and unexpected auditing of branches to achieve supervision and performance control of branches
       
      9. On time accomplishment of tasks and duties assigned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance (financial information and AML center)
       
      10.  Notifying AML rules and bylaws through our website and publishing articles in the Sina bank bulletins and brochures to enhance public awareness on money laundering
       
      11.  Participating in AML courses and workshops and transferring acquired knowledge to other colleagues and providing ongoing training sessions to keep them up-to-date with latest AML rules, regulations and circulars
       
      12.  Conducting AMLquestionnaires to investigate our correspondents' performance and to identify the shell banks
